Design Of Propane Dehydrogenation Facility For Propylene Production
The design of a propane dehydrogenation facility for the production of propylene needs many safety consideration to ensure maximum safety and security in that environment. These safety considerations include both the compulsory measures or required measures and optional measures or bonus measures. The required safety measures ensure that the environment for the production is safe for the workers and does not pose danger to the natural surroundings. The optional measures are bonus safety measures that can be put in place. This also covers environmental issues, global issues and technological progress relevant for the the design (Sell and Charles, 2006).
The safety of the workers in the plant is so important and to ensure this is achieved, there should be regulations put in place. These regulations should include the following, ensuring all workers wear protective gears in the workstation, installation of first aid kits and installing alarms in every strategic position. All workers in the farm must wear protective gears such masks, industrial gloves, and gumboots. This step ensures the safety of workers which is one of the primary concerns in the design. Alarms and first aid kits should also be provided to ensure basic help provision in case of an accident (Scheneid et al, 2011). The option measures may include encouraging humble behavior in the work environment, awarding workers who follow the safety measurement may be an encouragement. Workers who don’t follow these requirements can also be punished for instance suspension or even laying them off, may be appropriate.
Environmental issues for considerations are to ensure less harm to the natural order of the surroundings. Insulation of the farm with acoustic material reduces noise pollution in the adjacent areas. Waste water from the plant should not be let into water bodies without proper treatment first. The production firm should also be fitted with long chimneys to channel the smoke produced higher in the sky.
Technological measures are also important security requirements in the production firm. Security alarms, security cameras, computerized data collection of the flow of people in and out the firm. Security alarms and security camera installation for monitoring of everything taking place in the firm is important. In case of any accident, help provision is called on time before great harm is experienced. The technological measures make it an easy call for help since all activities in the firm is monitored.
The design of a propane dehydrogenation facility for the production of propylene has relevancy and somehow similar to cache modules. These safety relevance include, less environmental pollution, minimal exposure to risk and danger, and improved security system which is up to date with the current world security levels (Ellis et al, 2007).
The production design ensures less or reduced environmental pollution. Minimization Environmental pollutions such as noise pollution, air pollution, sound pollution, and water pollution is achievable with this design. The designs include installation of chimneys. Recycling of waste waters, installation of sound absorbers. All these measures reduce the mentioned types of environmental pollution.
Workers security is also taken care of by putting up measures which reduce avoidable accidents. Workers put on protective working gears such as gas mask, industrial gloves, and industrial boots during working hours and when within the working premises. With these gears avoidable accidents such as inhalation of poisonous gases are avoided.
Improved and computerized security system is also in place with this kind of design. The production firm is fitted with security cameras and fire alarms in all the strategic points of the building. With this modern security system set up, loss of lives, theft, and property destruction are reduced (James et al,2010).
