Part 2. The Research Project Presentation
Practice communicating your ideas for scientific research by presenting to an audience of peers. The ability to present your research in compelling ways – to funding agencies, to colleagues, to potential lab partners, and to national collaborators – is an essential skill for health care professional.
◦Develop a 5 minute narrated presentation to convince your classmates of the value of your proposal. The presentation must include the following elements: introduction to the topic, clear description of research problem, importance of the research to the field, and proposed methods/ analysis plan. This presentation can be developed using PowerPoint or other software that you may have available that is compatible with Blackboard.
◦Provide constructive feedback to your classmates on their presentations. This will help them to build a better written research proposal and improve their oral presentation skills in the future.
◦This assignment (this portion of your final project) is 20% of your overall Final Project grade. It will be graded using the Final Project rubric.
Software and technology to use for your presentation
You can use Microsoft PowerPoint to narrate your presentation but it must be PowerPoint 2002 or newer in order for the narration to work properly. Make sure that your version has narration capability before you begin. You will also need a microphone to record your narration, which might be built into your computer or can be plugged in to a USB port.
