The assignment for this Course is as follows:
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Fair Work Act 2009. However, what I am looking for is an understanding and analysis of the main features of the Fair Work Act 2009. What is the role of the Fair Work Commission? What does it do? What is the role of bargaining in the fixation of wages and conditions? What is the position of unions? Do they play a key role under this legislation? What does the Act have to say about the dismissal of employees? Finally, what type of “safety net” does the Act provide for employees in terms of minimum wages and working conditions?
In order to answer this particular question, I recommend that at a minimum you read chapters 5, 9 and 10 of the textbook.
