Essay responses serve two important roles in the admissions process. First, they allow the Admissions Committee to gain a deeper understanding of a candidate’s past experiences and future plans. In addition, the essays allow the candidate to demonstrate the written communication skills that are critical for success in the program.
Each essay should be no longer than two pages in length (double-spaced, approximately 500 words), so responses should be direct and concise.
3 different essay topics: 1. Discuss your interest in the EdD program and how you believe it will help you to reach your short- and long-term professional goals. 2. In considering your personal, educational, and employment background, in what ways do you hope or expect to contribute to the academic and professional community at USC Rossier? 3. Choose a problem relevant to your intended field of practice. As an educational leader, discuss what kind of information you might need in order to address this problem and why such information is necessary and relevant to the problem you have identified.
