Suppose you have deposited a sample of your sperm in a sperm bank, just in case you might need it at some stage. Suppose someone unknown to you steals that sample of your sperm, artificially inseminates herself with it, and brings your child into the world.
Do you have a special duty to care for and feed that child? Does that child have any special duties to you, like taking care of you in your old age? If, in these cases, the person in question has no special duties toward his or her respective family members, what does that suggest about the volunteer theory?
