INTRODUCTION ; WHAT IS AN E-BOOK / ELECTRONIC BOOK ?
An E-Book means the concept or methodology of reading any mid to long length electronic document that is viable on a screen such as a research paper, journal, or scientific articles, short stories, poems or magazines. On the other hand ,An e-book reader other wise known as e-book device or simply e-reader is an electronic device that is portable and is designed and developed with the prime intension or purpose of reading digital books and or periodicals on line.(ajax,adobe,2008)
An e-book can typically be compared to a tablet computer as they shera a lot of similaritires .However ,as expected , a tablet computer is technicxally build with a faster screen with enhanced capability and higher reflesh rats making it more and better suited for intergration.
THE BENEFITS AND ADVANTAGES OF E-BOKS
E-Books offer unlimited advantages and benefits across the board, that is both to the reader, auther and the publisher. Such include
.E-books can be availed instantaneously and in real time since one does not have to go the store but he or she can acquire a copy by simply purchasing and downloading then reading within minutes without to the store chain or waiting for weeks for the delivery to arrive which may take long or never make it at all.
.E-books are enviromantary friendly and they safe forests as they don’t require cutting of trees to make paper. This is also an enviromentary compliant system as it complys to the worlds eco-friendly ways of doing business.
.With E-books one can download smaller portions as per their needs instead of the whole book thus save time and money that can be used for other needs.
.most of the e-book purchases are accompanied and complemented by sale bonuses that are not offered with the purchase of traditional books.
.E-books don’t need too much storage space such as libraries or physical big rooms as thousands of them can be stored conviniently in the computer or any other e-book device.
.e-books are portable and a whole library can be carried in a cd, laptop note book, or e-book reader without the issues of weight or bulky concerns’
.E-books can be read anywhere anytime.
.E-books can be stored and carried from one place to another easier than ordinary books and as well are more durable.
.With access to computer or internet, one can purchase an E-book from any part of the world thus eliminating the need for chain traders who place an additional cost burden on comstomers thus making traditional book expensive thus out for many people .
.E-books are easy to purchase and download from any location from big modern cities to the remotest village in a far away country.

.E-books contain fonts that can be resized to make them easier to read for disabled people.
.E-books are reprinterble so those who crave a traditional print can make one cheaply from their home computer.
.E-books are ideally Distributed through the internet eliminates packing and shipping expenses.
.E-books are more interactive due to features like the audios, videos and animation which enhance the massage conveyance.
.E-books carry links that allow more access to further information and other related websites.
.E-books are easy to search eg for a term ,phrase or subject than turning pages.
DISADVANTAGES OF E-BOOKS
The most portent challenge to E-books is the issue of digital rights management where by all E-books are released with some digital rights claim attached to them (sara rosso ,2009)thus they are each tied to a specific device.
They also carry a lending loss as people can not lend to their friends s they do with paper books or re sale as used books, they also have a tactile loss as they still don’t come in mp3s which out weighs other conviniencies since people keep reading same material over and over and also there is no universal format for E-books rather they come in customized devices and can not be loaded in to electronic versions of the traditional books.
MICROSOFT E-BOOK TECHNOLOGY CASE STUDY
As a market leader in soft ware technology, Microsoft has produced a number of software appliances for various computer and lap top operations world over .thus it comes as no supprise that in keeping with this great tradition of expectations Microsoft has released in to the market the fanciful Microsoft courier tablet E-book that carries a digital journal complete with the support pictures as well as all the other accompanying apartainments .this E-book tablet comes in handy for those who wish to access on line digital journals.(steve siever,2010)

THE MICROSOFT AZURE PLATFORM
Microsoft has also produced the Azure platform which has positioned itself as a competitive and highly available platform for enterprise applications in this book, the authors develop the azure application as an outline structure dimensions and key decisions points for hosting an application of azure .this book is a fast track re edition of all the key aspects of azure with advancements for enterprise development and begins with an outline of general cloud computing then an overview of Microsoft azure platform and includes windows azure sql and goes on to discuss them with an aid of case studies. (Ellen suehring,2011) the book takes one through the tools needed for setting up azure and outlines the sample applications for later chapters together with other aspects of the azure platform such as web roles, queue storage , sql, azure in subsequent chapters and goes on to explain each feature in detail on top of availing programming illustrations in the form of sample applications with the core structural and security concerns given (sara, rosso,2010)
Also the authors take in to considerations key issues that are pertinent to enterprise development such as transferring data from an on premise data base to sql azure using ssis, securing an application using app fabric access control, blob and table storage and massaging via queue storage. this gives the learner a chance to read about leverage use of queue and worker roles for the separation of responsibilities between web and worker roles thus aiding linear scale out of an azure application by means of additional instances. (anonymous,2011) this creates the effect of ‘ellastic’ application characteristic allowing it to be used up or down quickly to match resources to demand as well as control costs thus allowing application ellastcity.
MAIN APPLICATIONS
From the practices in this book, one can learn
.The Explorations of the major features of azure.
.How examine the differences between azure development and traditional application development.
.Intergration with an on premise data base using ssis.
.Use of blob, table and queue storage.
.Development of web and worker roles.
.log application diagonistic events.
Creation of a work service in a web role.
.how to review considerations for moving an application and data in the cloud.
.how to create and intergrate windows forms applications with web services using visual studio.
.how to monitor application performance using azure diaganistics.
Thus this technological wonder allows developers to design and build enterprise for the cloud and is ease to follow due to its development by means of on line portal application and the development of the book sample application .(Ellen siever,2011)important issues for moving an application in to the cloud are discussed in detail. Technically the book is designed with leading providers of technological application to enterprise in mind such as senior developers ,archetects, cio/cto who need to lead the enterprise design to azure in mind for it has examples in net which skews me-oriented developers .however ,most of what is contained is vital to any one who aims to work with azure as irrespective of the language used ,application provisions re main the same as the underlying concept which only require exposure to a visual studio, basic sql server knowledge.
CONCLUSION
E-books are back this time to stay. this is mainly based on the fact that they have reached the tipping point so the way in which e-books are used is bound to have a big impact on the role of librarians and information professionals as publishers rethink their role as the go between reader and content(jan, palmer,1999).
Whatever the measure e-books have an new role of information retrieval puzzle for scientific scolars .e-book popularity based on the fact that researchers are working on line make them in despansable tool for scientific work. as well as universities and research are embracing e-books due to their familiarity in digital content (James gray,2005)
So as more content get digitalized, research will eventually get increasingly depended on electronically stored information. ‘we get very good and well timely and interactive feedback especially from field researchers (olaf Ernst,2008) for instance with the development of xml, digitalization ,content in e-books is getting completely cross-searchable thus already it is clear that on line working has gained a lot of savvy and high end flexibility that had not been seen before in the world of academics(ajax adobe,2008). As well ,e-pub and e-book work format offers good standardization access across as many hardware or software platform as possible this serve to enhance and broaden the width and penetration of research works to new grounds and fields that would other wise have remained un explored up to now thus e-books is a welcome invention that the world of academic can hope is here to stick with us till time on end.
