Educational Psychology

Education psychology is the study aimed at showing how human study in an enlightening setting, the success of interventions, psychology teaching and social psychology in an institution (O’Donnell et al 2011). The subject deals with how people learn, develop, and often focus on gifted and individual need children. Students experience various situations that limit their progress in institutions and need dire intervention to ensure positive progress in their studies (O’Donnell et al 2011).
During my studies within my high school education, I have experienced several stressful situations. Dealing with family problems and involving peer to intervene in various situations became quite stressful for me. I had to indulge my peers whose behavior became negative influenced by family tension like of divorce of the parents. My classmates felt that they were responsible for the parent divorce because they were not well behaved. It is quite tricky to commune with them because their parents failed to counsel them. Another episode I found was fighting in school.
Some teachers in the school were quite helpful and helped me deal with the situation through counseling and introduction of interaction sessions. Teachers provided me with valid information on how to boost my understanding of various student background. I managed to learn to control my anger and relax. I managed to adjust my reaction and perception of my peer through recognizing the efforts and challenges they faced (O’Donnell et al, 2011). I managed to successfully initiate dialogue with some of my peers and found shared interest. In the case of the divorced parents, counseling was the best method to advice. I also recommended to the student how to handle the situation through seeking professional help and immediately from the teacher. The student’s behavior changed and self-esteem improved and felt confident about continuing a relationship with the parents. Managing my emotions especially around students who were bullies was difficult. To communicate an opinion and develop positive bonds within the institution was difficult and involved painful repercussions in fights and unrewarding insults. Skills most used in both cases were communication and Understanding.
I need to work on believing in my skills and myself as a student. Having a high esteem will assist me in reducing stress on during my classes and other activities. I will also need to be optimistic about all situations that I handle in doing this I will be able to reduce stress. Being optimistic is important in becoming resilient (O’Donnell et al, 2011). The last thing I will have to do is to nurture myself. I will take time to do the things I enjoy in order to reduce stress. My long-term goal includes establishing a positive relationship with my peers, make more friends and succeed in my studies. Voluntary work will be something I will take up around school to better to gain more life experience. I will also join interactive sessions to share experiences and belief in eliminating the barrier of negative ideology. Assessing my peers, talking to them and giving them examples of educational success that I have learnt will be beneficial in motivating them. Achievement in my targets will not be a simple process but I am prepared to use the information I have learnt.
