Proposal specifics. Study the topics listed in the syllabus and in the detailed contents of the text to select a general topic and several issues relevant to that topic for your research paper. (See the class syllabus.) I’ll provide you feedback on the specific issues you pose, and you can select one of them as the topic of your paper. In your paper you will review the current literature on your specific topic. Based on your review of the literature, you will pose 2 or 3 research questions that you think need to be answered and indicate why you believe answers to these questions will be important to our understanding of sensation and perception.
Your paper should be 8-10 pages long and written in APA style. The bulk of your paper will summarize the previous research related to your specific topic. This review should address the scientific importance of your topic as well as what we already know about that issue. Your goal is to convince me that you have identified 2 or 3 important questions to which previous research suggests an answer and to which we could apply our sensation and perception methods to determine that answer. The remainder of your paper will pose 2 or 3 questions that emerge from your review of the literature. Finally, you need to indicate why answering these questions will further our understanding of sensation and perception.
