Efforts to revitalize the UCD Sports Department

The ability to achieve the elevated physical fitness presents unique qualities of the conducted routine. The University of Colorado Denver is home to renowned faculties, but the department of sports is proving to be a force to reckon with. The department manages the sports facilities with the assistance of the staff and the student communities. The school has a wide range of sporting services both indoor and outdoor that are also available for members of the public. As it is expected in any school of higher learning, sports are a vital sector for the student community. According to Aaron, a faculty member in the department of sports, the sporting activities are few. However, the school has done a lot to ensure incorporation of both women and men in the sports. The sports are eight in total, but the department is taking humongous measures to introduce more kinds of sports. The amazing thing about the department is that it is student-driven. The comments and insights from students are welcome. As a result, the faculty has selected several students sometimes referred to as sports officers. The officer’s main responsibility is to conduct research from other students regarding areas of improvement in the department. The student officers also offer insights into incorporation of more sporting activities that students would find interesting. Contrary to popular belief, the staff in the department is not responsible for the creation of sports clubs. Instead, the students, staff, and the officers work hand in hand to create them. The school’s website has made an effort to list all the clubs in the school for easy access regarding practice and games. Aaron gives insight into the creation of the clubs stating, ‘Last year I was hired to design a club sports program because students were interested in computing club sports, but CU did not have any way to oversee the teams themselves. We created the sports clubs so all the teams you see listed with the exception of hockey have all been formed last fall.’ There are also provisions for students to join school teams via the website reducing the hustle. Some of the teams created are new as their inception was last September.
Some of the most popular sports in the school include volleyball and soccer. At the moment, the volleyball team has only females. Generally, there are not many volleyball teams in the world made up of men. Soccer, on the other hand, is available for both females and males. The females do not seem to be as interested as the men do; however, the school is looking for ways that increase women’s interest in soccer. There are several students interested in basketball, but the numbers are not sufficient to create a valid twelve-member team that can partake in competitions. Sports is a terrific way to get involved in the university’s social life, and the school has made all the necessary steps that ensure that students have access to all the sporting equipment and facilities. Tickets for ongoing games are also easily available online or from the facilities themselves. The sports may only be eight in total, but the number may grow considerably once students show an increased interest in taking part in many activities. Aaron and some of the department members encourage students to take part in the sporting activities. Students that are not as interested in the activities should show support for their teams by acting as cheerleaders.
