Explain how Card is able to use the science-fiction setting to write a novel that could not be written as effectively if it was set in the past or even in the present.
In the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, science fiction is applied to help develop the plot on which the story is based. The author portrays two worlds in the novel to distinguish between the current and the future earth planets. In attempts to bring out clearly the science fiction part, Card brings in to the picture, a group of alien ants. The author attempts to postulate the war between the alien ants and the groups of human beings in the real world and the ideal world. Ender, who is the main character in this fictional story, finds himself in the ideal world. Ender uses his technical and physical abilities to rise to the ranks of command of the institution. His fictional reasoning during the ordeal illustrates that the novel could have not been as effective were it set on the past or the present world. Upon murdering of his fellow recruit in the school, Ender reckons that his abilities were aimed at eliminating future conflicts.
The author, in this article depicts a world out of this real world where human beings come together to fight for a common good of the society. If the novel were based on the pats or the present, the intended information on the importance of unity would have been missed. The past and the current world are characterized by individuality unlike the fictional world relayed in the novel by Card, which calls for unity among the human race. To be able to bring out the fictional future world effectively, Card uses alien ants, Ender and the school as part of the ideal or fictional world and Peter and Valentine as part of the real world.

Being the era of postmodern literature, Hispanic culture goes under critical review or study hence the essence of Hispanic voices. Postmodern literature in America tends to look at the historical fictional and non-fictional stories or events to base their current understanding of the scenarios or situations. Based on this characteristic, it is likely that the Hispanic voices, which had been understudied becomes known in the wake of postmodern literature.
Another reason why the Hispanic voices are heard now although they have existed in the Hispanic tradition is practicality. How well can this tradition be applied to the postmodern literature out of the context of the society in which it is derived, is a factor of interest to the postmodern literature writers. This illustrates the experiment put down by the postmodern writers on the existing cultures and traditions. They try to apply this uncelebrated events and traditions/history to showcase their work in literature. This helps to develop the familiarity effect with the reader as he/she comes across familiar events or history. The Hispanic voices are also applied to differentiate the era of literature during which the story is set. In this case, the voices are used to bring out the pre-modern and modern literature eras and their connection to the postmodern literature. The voices bring out the effects of traditional literature that offers directions to the writers of the postmodern literature. This shows why the Hispanic tradition is prevalent now though it has been in existence in other parts of the American continent.
