Traditionally Australian students in year seven have completed this stage of their education in a primary school settingprior to making the transition to a secondary school campus in year eight. As of 2015 all students in Australian primaryschools including Western Australia will be incorporated into secondary school campuses as part of the overalltransition model that has been adopted. There will naturally be a number of areas of concern regarding the changesthat both primary and secondary schools, students, teachers and parents will face. Some of these issues includeclassroom availability, play space, physical facilities such as change rooms, teaching staff availability and capabilities.The proposed research needs to investigate the potential effects of the year seven transition initiative on the keystakeholders in order to identify the major issues and to better understand the practical and emotional concerns ofthose who will be involved in the change process.
