 Explore the vegetable data provided by the USDA Economic Research Services regarding per
capita use (consumption) and production trends located at
http://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/crops/vegetables-pulses.aspx. You are looking to find
information on trends in vegetable production and consumption. Read the overview provided
by ERS and then click on the link for “Vegetable and Pulses Data;” from here click on either
“Data by Commodity” for specific vegetables or “Outlook Tables.” Use this data to summarize
trends for vegetable production or consumption.
 Provide a 1-page overview of these statistics. Highlight the average consumption of specific
vegetables and whether this average has been increasing or decreasing in recent years. Has
the production (area harvested by vegetable) for these vegetables followed consumption
trends?
 In your summary, include your thoughts on the various influences on whole foods production
that impact these trends.
