Two prompts for your e-response:
1) Ritzer argues in the first chapter you read that “McDonaldization” is becoming the dominant structure of work in the United States today. What does he mean by “McDonaldization?” How is that term similar to and different from other terms he introduces (drawn from other theorists): the “iron cage” of formal rationality, Taylorization, Levittown, etc.? Why does he think that these are bad ways to structure work?
2) Ritzer also argues in the second chapter you read that there are many alternatives to “McDonaldization” today. How do you evaluate those alternatives? Do any (or all) of them seem viable and/or attractive? Why or why not?
