Homophobia

The homophobia is a heartfelt oppression that most people fail to acknowledge
Homosexuality and lesbianism are two phenomena that the society has in most instances failed to recognized. Of note is that even those men and women involved in these behaviors are usually in denial. However, their denial is instigated by the fact that the society as whole has refused to accept the fact both homosexuality and lesbianism are part and parcel of human life just like heterosexuality. You find that most homosexuals and lesbians are forcing themselves into heterosexual activities. The main reason why these people engage into heterosexuality despite their feelings and knowledge of their sexuality is because of fear. Usually, it is the fear of the unknown. Women who are lesbian engage into heterosexual activities with absolute knowledge of their feelings towards their partners. While in such relationships they tend to hate their partners and also develop hatred towards self. Reason being, they are not contented with who they are with as well as their ways of life. We can ascertain that most homosexuals and lesbians hide their inner sexual feelings due to the homophobia associated with their behaviors.
The hatred and disregard of lesbianism and homosexuality causes those involved in these activities to face rejection from the society a thing that makes them hide their true identity. As a result, they end up hurting their feelings as well as those of the people they are living with. We can equate homophobia with racism. Just like racism, homophobia is oppressive. Racism is a known repressive phenomenon that is usually discouraged. Similarly, both lesbianism and homosexuality are behaviors that are not recognized and acceptable in most states. Therefore, those involved in these activities are handled with much rejection and cruelty. It is for this reason that homosexuals and lesbians live in fear. They do not want the society to learn of their behaviors due to the homophobia associated with their sexual behaviors. They consequently carry on their activities in privacy while other hides their feelings in other people which in real sense cause emotional pain due to the fact that they are forced to do things that are contrary to their own feelings and beliefs.
Homosexuality and lesbianism are increasing with decrease in homophobia
Homophobia is the hatred towards lesbianism and homosexuality. It is evidently true that the world is changing with the unacceptable becoming acceptable in the contemporary world. The two articles have cited the issues of homophobia being prompted by unacceptability of these behaviors in the society. Some homosexuals hide their identities due to fear of names labeled against them. For instance, some boys would want to hide their identity for fear of being called,”fags” which they take an as offensive word. Nevertheless, the world is changing and so are human behaviors and activities. In the recent past, we have witnessed men marrying men and women marrying their fellow women publicly. This is an indication that there is no fear of being called a lesbian or homosexual or even a “fag”. Constantly, our legal entities recognizes such unions an indication that the society is gradually accepting this trend thereby reducing or completely doing away with homophobia.
Although the two readings have highlighted the predominant issues that cause homophobia as being loss of feminism and masculinity, I believe that these are not major issues that cause homophobia. Instead, what triggers emotional pain to these people are self denial and the perception of the society as whole. One does not want other people to learn of his/her sexual behaviors. This makes both homosexuals and lesbians deprive themselves of the happiness they deserve. Nonetheless, this is not the case in the contemporary world, people are going public about their sexual lives, they are forming movements directed to letting the society recognize and accept them just like any other member of the society. With insults or offensive words, nothing is making them move back or hide their true identity; they are living their lives normally. Despite the fact that the authors of the articles have equated lesbianism and homosexuality with racism, I believe that both lesbians and homosexuals are not racialized in the present-day world.
