I.T. Off shoring set to Increase in Near Future, Before Leveling Off.
The article highlights the impact of off shoring on I.T. departments, mostly in North America and in Europe-Based enterprises who have incomes or more than a billion dollars. The article points out that these were the hardest hit by the off shoring trend as compared to other business service sectors in these regions. This information was courtesy of a report by the Hackett group. The report goes on to explain that I.T departments in theses two regions were affected the most in terms of decline of jobs as well as in the reduction of absolute terms. However, the future of I.T. also holds many more potential opportunities for jobs in the future, with the discovery of new products and the continually expanding range of the same. This is encouraging the setting up of organizations to produce these things. The I.T. department worldly is also growing, thus creating demand for I.T. professionals. as many enterprises shift from internally making I.T. products to outsourcing them, the Hackett groups foresees a rapid adoption of on-demand technology with the demand for software services generally leaning toward s an increase.
Many companies in the I.T. industry are using I.T. off shoring to gain a competitive advantage. They are achieving this by out sourcing the I.T. services they require from other countries where such services can be obtained at relatively cheaper costs and where there is a larger pool of suitable labor. Asia is one of the leaders in offering the said services (Richter &Heipcke, 2007, p8). With the increasing competition in the industry, companies are gradually increasing their willingness to risk take in this industry, more and more of them are widening their product portfolios and concentrating on new product segments such as software integration, security solution sand bio metric data analysis (Richter & Heipcke, 2007). I.T. it therefore appears that I.T. off shoring is set to increase in the coming years, before it levels off.
