Topic: Illegal Immigrants in the U.S.
General Purpose: to persuade
Specific Purpose: to persuade my audience to be anti-illegal immigration.
- Introduction
- “Give us have your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”. These are words that are found in the Statue of Liberty placed there in hundreds of years ago. The meaning behind these words was the desire to have hope for all of the immigrants that come into the United States of America. Do these words still have meaning today?
- Debate has arisen in the past months about immigration leading for consideration for the impact immigration has on our present lives. Over 900,000 immigrants, and still rising, have been entering in the US annually from 2000 (Congress). From this number; there is no mention of the 300,000 illegal immigrants who enter the US annually.
- I will persuade you as to why the illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in USA by sharing some significant information concerning the illegal immigrants, the cause of the problem and solutions to this problem.
- Take an instance of a young girl of thirteen years of age having to travel several states apart so as to see her brothers and sisters. She goes through some very stringent procedures; when going into the building she first meets a fence which waits then going to another one. When getting into the main entrance she has to show her ID then fill forms before she may advance. She is searched then passed through a metal detector for her to go to another room to see her family. The meeting is limited for only two hours after the family members being un-cuffed. This experiment is what I underwent through to see my family members.
- The issue on illegal immigration has brought with it increased population hence a strain on the resources. Another thing is that it has led to a high level of injustice due to no proper information.
These problems are as a result of lack of proper steps to let the immigrants to contribute to the economy (White, 2012). The injustice that has resulted attributed due to lack of proper measures to get this information from them.
Solutions to these problems could be solved by creating proper and effective measures that would lead to them to contribute to the economy. Concerning the injustice, as the immigrants get into the country they ought to provide their full information of themselves.
- Body
- The increase in the population has led to more people utilizing programs that the immigrants do not fund. The tax payers are the sole contributors. This leads to a strain on the economy as well as the notion of immigrants being taken negatively (Wooldridge, 21 January, 2011; manman, Dec 28, 2009). The shift to US was a desire to have a better life. There other problem of injustice where the immigrants lack license and IDs.
- On strain of the resources, this problem is brought about by the government not creating necessary measures on how the immigrants could be able to contribute to the economy. The other problem of injustice being brought about by lack of information of the immigrants has led to the immigrants not to be able to access license as well as get several other services in the country.
- Increased strain on the economy is solved by offering the immigrants jobs so that they may play a role in contributing to the economy just as the other people (Politics, November 21st, 2008).
The injustice due to lack of sufficient information has a proper way of solving it by acquiring sufficient information from the immigrants as they are all have access to their personal information.
- Conclusion
- Review:
The problem of utilizing resources hence straining the economy leads to a creation of a bad perception of the immigrants and acquisition of negative names, similar to the injustice of not having enough information to engage in the country’s activities. These calls for the tightening of the steps that would make the government acquire sufficient information for them to take part in the economy just like any other person.
- It should hence be to your knowledge that the immigrants do not have any bad intentions on the state or the economy or even the people. The desire to live a comfortable life free from rejection or suffering is what we desire. Hence legalizing it offers us this opportunity.
- It is to my desire that we would be able to see a country that respects human rights and offers each and every one equal opportunity to live in a comfortable environment.
- With the information provided, it is to my humble belief that illegal immigrants have no bad intention on harming anyone and that positive reciprocation to them would lead to a more cohesive environment.
