Hand drawing is a traditional method used to create design sketches and plans for designers and architects. Hand drawing is an important skill to possess if working in the design industry as it allows ideas and plans to be clearly and coherently expressed to clients. However, handmade drawings may have recently been superseded by computer generated image software packages such as AutoCAD but it still retains its core role; being the initial way in which to communicate ideas and concepts before a final version is agreed. It is also a presentation technique that will always bring more personality to your final visuals than computer generated imagery alone. Sketching does not require elaborate or sophisticated techniques, the emphasis lies in the accuracy and coherency of the design. Hand drawing, especially in perspective will help to develop your sketching techniques in order to produce a more refined result that can be presented as a visual to clients on presentation boards and as an additional method of presenting your design ideas within your project work.
