Inter-governmental system comparisons exercise (DUE:March 18th)
In “Decision Making in the State” and “Why (and How) Should We Compare” by Phillips Shively, you’ve read about different systems of governance around the world, including the advantages and disadvantages as well as how to compare different governments.
Prepare a 12 page research paper.
I. Choose a country around the world and describe their government in relation to the two readings. Give specific examples of how each government is set up.PICK CANADA
II. Compare the country’s government system with the United States system. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the two systems.
III. How would politics in America operate differently if the nation adopted the other country’s government system? Do you believe such a change would be for the better or not, in terms of overall government performance and leadership effectiveness? Explain in intricate detail.
IV. What is your opinion as a citizen about the effectiveness of each government? (i.e. if you were a citizen in Country A vs. a citizen of the United States.)
Format
The papers must be submitted in 12pt, Times New Roman Font with double spaced paragraphs and 1 inch margins.(fail to follow this format will result in points taken off assignment) The papers need to include in text citations and a works cited page (work cited page is not included in the page limit). Plagiarism, either intentional or unintentional will not be tolerated. Any student suspected of plagiarizing their paper will be reported to the department and the university for academic dishonesty. If there are any questions about how to cite a text, consult the MLA or APA Handbook or talk to me for assistance.
Use at least 6 sources in APA style. Include a cover page, table of content, and appendixes to support your thesis.
