iphone the Smartphone

iphone the Smartphone
The preferred platform for everyday computing needs of users continues to shift from the traditional desktop and laptop computers toward mobile Smartphone devices (Kalkbrenner and McCampbell 1). The concept of Smartphone began in 1993 when International Business Machines and BellSouth Cellular Corporation unveiled their new creation. Advances in Smartphone usability such as the iphone demonstrate that a Smartphone can support more than just email and voice. The Smartphones are becoming powerful computing platforms challenging desktop and laptop computing power in a considerable number of ways. This is because of their increasing importance as a tool for professionals who depend on them for telephony, text messaging, and web browsing among many others (Snell 1). Additionally, users can still download Smartphone applications and try to use them using various application stores. The fact that smartphones provide multiple means through which users can receive information and communication, smartphones stand as noteworthy innovation for mobile information access when compared to all other mobile technological devices.
Iphone is one of the products of Smartphone technology, and since its launch in 2007, it has taken the communication technology industry by storm (Bernstein Research 15). The unparalleled ease of use and access to hundreds of applications has transformed the device into a powerful, pocket computer and at the same time putting Apple at the forefront of the Smartphone revolution. According to Kalkbrenner and McCampbell (3), since its launch, the device has secured remarkable achievements the handset market, and this is where there was a sale of almost 10million iphones by the first anniversary of its launch. This success spurred a global demand for 3G handsets, and this is where the ease to use of the device and their unfettered accesses to third party applications enabled innovation and competition that raised the demand of advanced handsets.
Developments
The original model Apple launched in 1997 had revolutionary features such as a widescreen portable media player an internet terminal and a GSM/EDGE cellular phone (Bernstein Research 15). Additionally, the device ran operating system of Apple Macs whose control was effective with an innovative multi-touch screen. The second iteration of the device was the iPhone3G followed by the third generation, which had a video camera. The fourth generation of the device had a high-resolution screen with add on such as the front-facing camera, which ensured high fidelity video chats (Bernstein Research 15). IPhone 5 has taken the subsequent step in Smartphone development, and this happens during a time when since Apples first release of the original model, much has changed in the world. Currently, people desire to have fast and reliable internet connections with a bright touch screens with high resolution and just small enough devices that can fit in people’s pockets (Snell 1). The new model continues Apple’s tradition of incrementally making phones better than the previous ones. Although most developments of the device has made new models recognizably the iphone, the additional welcome features the iphone 5 has strays so far from the previous model. This is because the new model offers significant advances on almost every front though it is still recognizable an iPhone.
Physical appearance
The use of glass and aluminum in the manufacture of the exterior of the device makes it look prettier than the fourth generation model. The overall design of iphone 5 makes it look like a clear descendant of the fourth generation. This is because it has a flat front and back with a metal ring surrounding the sides serving as the antenna. However, there is a replacement of all the glass back of iphone 4 where the back has aluminum material covering its sides with glass panels forming the top and bottom.
According to Snell (1), nearly every new Apple product is thinner, faster, and lighter than the preceding product, and it is because of this aspect that iphone 5 measures 7.6mm compared to the fourth generation measurement of 9.3 mm. Its weight is lower than its predecessor at 112grams down from the weight of 140grams. However, The most striking element of the device is its screen where its retina display measures four inches diagonally, has a resolution of 1136 by 640 pixels and taller than its predecessor. To cater for the taller display, the new model is almost 9mm taller than the length of its predecessors (Bernstein Research 15).
Connectivity
The new model is speedier than its predecessors are and this emanates from a couple of new options that allow connection to the outside world. The device’s support of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) cellular data standard and a new dock-connector port instead of the standard 30-pin port set the device apart from sets it apart as a preferred connectivity device. According to Snell (1), the device’s upgraded dual core A6, processor makes the device the fastest IOS device ever in the market. Meanwhile, camera improvements on iphone 5 are remarkable. Apart from the 8-megapixel sensor and support for large size pixel images, it has a hybrid IR filter, a five-element lens. It also has a fast aperture that combine and a low dynamic light mode that work together to produce exceptional picture quality.
It is certain that iphone 5 is the in thing in this globalised world where people do not want to waste time, communicate more easily, and multitask for the benefit of avoiding or reducing stressful life situations. The improved size that is pocket accommodative, the increased speeds of connectivity and camera and screen resolutions sets the device apart as a daily requirement especially for professionals. Therefore, mobile devices just as technology are here to make a man’s life easier than before and ensure development of all aspects of life.
