develop a complete set of lesson plans for a unit of study (approx. 1 week in length) including all elements learned in this course for effective instruction for English Language Learners. Select the specific area and grade level for your unit of study. For example, Science: Grade 2: living things. In a narrative format, you will identify the topic areas listed below, referencing your text book and two additional resources. This information will be complied into an effective lesson plan format that could be used to instruct a group of students in the age and subject area you have identified. Please see attached Lesson Plan Template. The completed project must be 6 pages in length (including the actual lesson plans) and comprehensive enough that an instructor would be able to utilize this for their classroom. In your project you must include:
Topic Area:
Age or grade level of students
Identify the type of program: (page 7, table 1.1)
Identify the stages of language development of target students: (page 17, figure 1.6)
Identify the Learning Theory on which this lesson plan is developed: (chapter 2)
Consider the factors that affect Second-Language Acquisition and include elements to address these factors within your lesson plans: (page 47)
As you design your lessons, be sure to reference the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol on pages 58-59 in your text book. You will want to be sure that consideration of these elements has been made.
