London considered the largest metropolitan area and urban zone in the EU is the capital city of the United Kingdom and England. It has been the significant settlement as an ancient core for two millennia. London retaining a mediaeval boundary of a square mile is located on the Thames River. Currently London is topping with strengths in commerce, arts, entertainment, education, finance, fashion, professional services, healthcare, tourism, research and transport as a contribution to its remarkable prominence. It has been in the records of the world’s most decorated cultural capital and the most visited.

London has forty-three universities that form the prevalent concentration in Europe of higher education with 412,000-student population of around 97,150 of whom are international students. In history records, it marked the three times record of being the first city to host modern summer Olympic games. London constitutes of a range of diverse cultures and populations with more than 300 spoken languages within its boundaries. It was officially declared having a population of up to 8,174,100 on March of 2011 going into the record of being the most populated municipality in Europe. It accounts for 12.5% of the population in UK. In the EU, London’s urban area having a population of 8,278,251 is the subsequent largest while the metropolitan area being the largest in EU having a total ranging between 12 and 14 million.
From 1831 to 1925, London had the world’s largest population. It has four heritage sites including Kew gardens that comprise of Palace of Westminster, St Margaret’s church and Westminster Abbey; a settlement of Greenwich that is historic and the Tower of London. Other landmarks considered famous includes the London eye, Buckingham palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge and the Wembley stadium. It forms a home to a number of famous museums, libraries, galleries, cultural institutions and sporting events inclusive of National gallery, British Museum, British library, Tate modern, 40 West End theatres and the Wimbledon. Its underground railway network is the oldest. It is the world’s popular tourism centre so far with one of its most prominent industries having employees of up to 350,000. They work fulltime workers as surveyed in 2003 with £15 billion annual expenditure by visiting tourists.
