Malaysia
Introduction
This nation is located in the south East Asia, with a population of over two million citizens. The natives of Malaysia main speak six languages namely Telugu, Malayalam, Panjabi, Thai, Iban, and Kadazan. This country’s economic backbone if farming with majorities of its citizens involved in agriculture. Many events have influenced the situation in Malaysia, these events range from political, economical and religious events. In this paper, the discussions and analysis of the current state of Malaysia bases on three historical events of Malaysia. These events include colonization, native settlers, and war. All these three events have shaped the current state of Malaysia in one way or the other (Oxford business group, 2008).
Colonization; Malaysia was colonized by the Britain who brought their home culture and imposed it on the people of Malaysia. The colonization of Malaysia by Britain has much impact on the current state of the country. The effects range from Malaysia’s education system, farming practice, and legal framework. The current education system of Malaysia borrows from the British system of education from its framework to teaching system. Colonization of Malaysia by the Britain brought an impact on its current economy power with the adoption of farming as one of the economic backbone of the country. The Britain started the large-scale farming, which Malaysians adopted even after independence. The presence of British American tobacco, which has been in existence in Malaysia for the past one hundred years shows the influence that large-scale farming by the Britain left in Malaysia. The performance of this company and the presence of other companies that have resulted from agriculture practice show that Malaysia economy relies on farming (Tajuddin, 2012).
Political system; the political system of Malaysia is monarchial based on constitutional Monarchy and parliament democracy. This system is the same as that of the Britain as is an indication of the impact of the colonization on the present state of Malaysia. Its democracy is divided at two levels, with the federal states being headed by a ceremonious king and the head of the government being the prime minister. The leadership structure of Malaysia indicates the influence of it colonizers on the current state of the country. The current constitution of Malaysia also borrows a lot from the Britain one (Tajuddin, 2012).
Racial wars in Malaysia, since Malaysia is a multi racial state, many wars and conflicts based on racial differences occur in most parts of the country. Recently Malay mobs, wearing white headbands signifying an alliance with death, and brandishing swords and daggers, surged into Chinese areas in the capital, burning, looting and killing. In retaliation, Chinese, sometimes aided by Indians, armed themselves with pistols and shotguns and struck at Malay kampongs (villages. These wars have led to inter racial tension in Malaysia with the rivalry between the many races in Malaysia. The wars and tensions affect many development efforts in Malaysia from investors to tourist keeping off the country. These inter racial wars affects the prosperity of Malaysia (Oxford business group, 2008).
Summary and Analysis
Events that occurred in Malaysia brought different impact to its current state of affairs. The impact is either positive or negative. For instance, the colonization of Malaysia by the Britain brought positive impact to the present time Malaysia, from an effective government structure, improved economic practices and business to a sense of national heritage. The negative influences results from the presence of multi racial groups due to immigration from other parts to Malaysia. This has resulted to multiracial wars affecting tourism and investors. It is evident that the events that have taken place in Malaysia have shaped its current state either positively or negatively.
