There are many airlines that travel to new Zealand from other region of the world and this include Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia, Qantas, Singapore airlines, Cathay pacific, Thai airways, Korean air, Malaysia airlines, Skytrax, pacific blue, virgin blue Emirates, British airways, Lifthansa, American airlines, United and Air Canada.(Rewi, 2012).
However, there are some that travel from Australia to New Zealand and these include Virgin Australia, Jester, Qantas, Malaysia airlines, Thai airways, Air Vanuatu, Cathay pacific, Air pacific, Emirates, LAN airlines, China Airlines, Singapore airlines among others (Edward, 2007).
Thai air ways, AN airlines, Singapore airlines Air New Zealand, Cathay and LAN airlines have differentiated from competitors by offering unique high class services at high cost. Thai airway provides sleeper seating that it electronically controlled; Qantas provide luxurious bedding down service; LAN provides top notch for both short and long flights with menu designed by celebrity chefs; AN airlines offers privacy in first class services; Air New Zealand has special designed seat and offers premier foods and beverages at all times; Emirates provides 5star hotel services (Vasigh, B. Et al, 2013); Cathay and Singapore airlines also provide ultimate luxury service.
Airline New Zealand is the leading provider of air transport services. It has been able to gain competitive advantage by employing highly qualified staff and also provides a variety of token to its customers such as entertainment systems and food staffs. Skytrax airline is one of the most popular airlines. It ha s differentiated from the competitors by being the only airline circumnavigating the world (Harper, L.et al 2011).It also uses special routes that promote trade marketing.
On the other hand, Southwest airlines, Pacific blue, Ryanair, tiger airways and Jester, has segmented from the competition by placing themselves as a low cost carrier in order to gain a competitive advantage (Gross, & Schroder, 2007)
