The medium that a writer or composer chooses for their message determines what they can communicate and what they cannot communicate. This is partly due to technological barriers and practical issues, but it is often because the audiences for these different media need and want different things. You will have a chance to explore this idea in detail, by selecting a single text (such as a book, an episode of a TV series, a short story, a graphic novel, a poem, or a stage play) and reflecting on how changing it into at least two other media–remediating it–changes the text, and how those changes reflect differences of audience, context, technology, and even the writer/creator. As you write this project, you will be drawing heavily on your awareness of rhetoric and audience from the first two projects. You do not have to research additional texts, beyond those that you discuss in your paper, but you may do so if you wish, and I’ll work with you on that.
One of the media that you discuss will be hypothetical, something that could be made but hasn’t been made yet.
