My Growth as a Writer
Writing is an interesting ideal for both professionals and amateurs. It represents an art that allows people to share ideas on diverse topics. An art allows people like me to grow and become admirable writers. This entire term has been insightful for me as a new writer. There has been significant growth for me as a writer from the beginning of the term up to date. The growth is remarkable and makes me appreciate such writing curricular in modern learning institution.
The English class was fundamental in this whole growth in writing. I must mention that I am a second language learner. This implies that my writing skills were extremely pathetic when the term began. Apart from the relevant writing skills, my knowledge of English was poor. I was unable to communicate my ideas in the same language. After attending al the English classes throughout the term, there was a significant improvement in my mastery of the language. Currently, I experience minimal problems when I want to write any piece in the English language. My comfort with all the assignments that require me to write is attributable to the intensity of content cover in the English classes.
The classes were beneficial to the growth in my writing career. This is evident from the following elements in the writing classes. I was able to master several ideas that build diverse writer across the globe. Some of these ideas from the English classes include the following. The first one is the creation of outlines and drafts before commencing writing. This practice is practical for anyone whose skills in writing are not exemplary. Outlines enable writers to focus on the respective topics that they intend to write about during their writing experiences. I create outlines each time I have a writing assignment and in turn grow to be perfect in the writing field. My growth is also evident in the ability to create extremely comprehensive outlines before I write.
The teaching on the creation of drafts during writing endeavors was equally relevant. I always appreciate its relevance whenever I have to write any article regardless of its purpose. Drafts enable writers to identify their mistakes from previous writings. This is helpful for writers who wish to create perfect pieces for their respective readership. The creation of drafts also enables writers to share their ideas with other writers before completion of the writings. Sharing is fundamental; it ensures there is identification of any mistakes and addition of ideas from other writer who could be better than the writers of the drafts could. I am a better writer from the beginning of the semester because I always share my drafts with either my teachers or classmates.
The classes were against undesirable practices for modern writers. Some of these practices include failure to acknowledge the use of another writer’s ideas. This was probably the most interesting bit of the entire course on writing. The issue of citing from other sources was fascinating. It was wonderful to learn how to source ideas according to acceptable writing formats. Previously, I had confusions on the requirements of appropriate citation styles. The confusions no longer prevail; I am able to apply correct citation styles regardless of the complexity of the writing assignment I have for the English class.
I read numerous example essays that also have fundamental contribution to my growth in writing. Currently, I am a good write who writes extremely efficiently and speedy. The commendable speed that I have in writing is attributable to my exposure. The example essays were significant in my familiarization of requirements in writing. The example essays were equally inspirational to me. Each time I read a perfect piece of writing, I always wished I would be able to produce such writings. The dream I had now seems real from the comments I receive for my improved writing.
All the textbooks for the course were helpful throughout the semester. The recommendations from the diverse textbooks in class are applicable to several writing assignments. At the beginning of the semester, I was unable to identify relevant books for the execution of different assignments. Currently, I do not experience such issues while in the library. This makes me an exemplary writer who does not waste so much time on finding appropriate materials while writing. Apart from these helpful recommendations from the textbooks, they made me increase the interest I had on writing.
The growth of any writer depends on such things as continuous practices and skills to access relevant textbooks. Writers also need to master necessary skills before they grow to be perfect in their respective wring assignments. Apart from this, writers should always cite outside sources that they use while executing their writing assignments. This ensures that the same writers uphold desirable morals in the writing field. Writers should also ensure that they grow by engaging in appropriate practices, such as the creation of drafts and outlines.
