National Crime Victimization Survey

While attending a family reunion, you become reacquainted with your “favorite” nephew Skippy who is getting ready to graduate from high school. He tells you about a project in his favorite class, Career Exploration, in which he was assigned a social work career. He was selected to be a victim advocate for this project. Your nephew, knowing you are interested in this subject, asks you for help with one of his upcoming assignments dealing with victimization statistics. Write an informational e-mail that Skippy could incorporate into his school project discussing the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS); include information about the following:

•the survey’s origin, purpose, and objectives
•administration of the survey
•the survey’s use as a source crime statistics
•several examples of data collected and reported by the NCVS
Use the Internet to research the National Crime Victimization Survey.
