Your 58 year old father-in-law has come to live with you after having a stroke. He has nonfluent aphasia and apraxia of speech, and a right-sided hemiplegia. He was a fluent speaker of a language that you do not speak yourself (prior to the stroke). He had a full-time job, but due to the severity of his symptoms he is now unable to work.
Outline the communication problems experienced by your father-in-law, and possible psychosocial
consequences for him, and for you and the family/whānau.
Please include…
Your description of the consequences for your father-in-law’s life and activities with others (include what he can do, as well as what might be impaired). This will draw on your reading and knowledge of likely psychosocial issues for your father-in-law and his family/whānau
An indication of how relevant cultural or theoretical frameworks (e.g. HRQL or ICF) are integrated into your whole perspective
Evidence that you have considered the implications of bilingualism for this man (including any misunderstandings that may arise for him talking to health professionals) and the fact
that you do not speak his first language
Also, i would prefer the references to be research papers rather than textbooks.
