Observation Summary Assignment.

Observation

The observation take place at the Spectrum Village Park in Irvine City, California. I asked a friend a favor to accompany them as they do their regular weekend afternoon walk in the park. They know that it is an observation that I will do for my class. It was around 4 pm in the cloudy weather of California. The subject that was observed was 2 children ages 8 and 10 and are both females. They are the children of a friend who were brought to the park for a little walk where the siblings opted to play. The parents were looking after the children at a distance and just letting the children play while I was observing them at a distance.

The older sister plays a dominant role in the relationship because the smaller sister takes a cue from her. The younger sister is following her big sister in the park as they walk, run and stroll in the park. The younger sister is very engaged with her environment but seems to need the approval of her older sister before she does anything. For example, there was a little puppy from a neighbor who happened to go there way and the younger sister would like to pet the puppy because she finds it cute. Her older sister has to provide a gesture of approval before the younger sister proceeded in petting the puppy. Also, it is the older sister who leads the way while the younger sister follows her. Of the two, the younger sister asks her sister about a lot of things. They were holding hands most of the time.
