Essay 1
The two paintings are paintings that portray the best example of appropriation meaning that they have something in common. The paintings both borrow the narrative as well as the composition infamously done by the artist Picasso. One of the paintings borrows an aspect relating to composition in that it is a development of Picasso’s abstraction as well as the concept of Africanism. This comes from the influence that goes hand in hand with European manipulation. The paintings differ through the type of artist in that Colescott has taken an initiative of making this famous image his own in the artistic industry. The paintings bring out certain aspects about both artists in reference to the motives that drove each one of them to develop the painting, in addition to the effect of both their works.
The formal content of both painting tends to differ in that they used diverse aspects on the same concept. The composition of the painting is one of the factors that distinguish one painting to another. From the painting by Picasso, the composition appears to be less complex in that there is little in terms of color. The spacing within the paintings is an additional variable that diversifies both artists’ work. Picasso appears to have maintained the spacing in his painting yet Colesscott capitalizes on the space on his paining. The two paintings have dissimilar material in use as well as the material. These are techniques making painting more attractive and Picasso seems to have less focus on these segments.
The reason as to why there is an existence of differences between the two paintings is that their development was on different times and on different targets. One focuses on the African aspect while the other on a European skin tone. The external characteristics that influence the two paintings are the fact that they focus on two different social factors. Social factor is a great determinant and that is why one painting comprises of the African skin tone whilst the other has the European skin tone.

Frank Lloyd was an interior, educator and an American designer. He authored more than 20 books and designed more than 1000 structures. Some of the characteristics I like about Frank Lloyd Wright were his articles, which he wrote as a lecturer. The good about his articles was that they were informative and were easy to understand. His designs were also impressive and beautiful.
Keith Harring
Keith Harring was a social activist and an artist whose work responded in the New York City. Some of the characteristics I love Keith Harring is the concepts in which he expressed in the country. Some of the concepts include, birth, sex, death and war. These concepts were important to the residents of the New York during the 20th century.
Shepard fairy
Shepard Fairy is a popular American illustrator and a graphic designer who materialized from skateboarding scene. His Andre the giant has a pose was the most impressive thing I liked about him. Although his graphic work was impressive, Shapard Fairy fails to cut across all genres. Some people do not fancy his work or see his work as important.
Banksy
Banksy is an English based graffiti and a painter artist. Banksy is also a political activist and a film director. He is known for his satirical street art and dissident epigrams, which combines with dark humor in unique stenciling techniques. The impressive thing about his work was his use of graffiti to pass his message across. However, excessive use of graffiti on public walls is less impressive to me. Excessive graffiti use makes the places dirty.
In case I was a modern day artist, I would focus my work on the use of local resources to create my work. Local available resources such as clay soil, sand, grass among other would be ideal because of its availability.
Essay 4
Quote:
“Everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understand the song of a bird! Why does one love the night, flowers, everything around one without trying to understand them? But, in the case of painting, people have to understand” Pablo Picasso
The reason why I chose this quote is to bring out the concept and interests that people have in understanding the value in artistic paintings. Very few individuals have the appropriate knowledge to determine the value there is in an artwork limiting the number of individuals with prior knowledge. The quote is significant because it points out majorly on those people who have interest in art yet very little knowledge of understanding the concept of artwork such as paintings. It is simple to understand other artistic such as songs but most people have the tendency of valuing things like paintings that they have little knowledge. It is questionable why someone will develop the passion of something yet he or she has very little clue of the meaning, in addition to the message that they are sending out to the audience. This case states that there is need to understand the concept behind every painting in order to ensure that they accurately interpret the concept behind every painting.
