For this paper, you will interview someone who is not related to you, who is at least 30 years old, and who has a child who is at least 5 years old. The interviewee needs to be in a dual-earner marriage (or was in the past) and works full or part-time. You will need to prepare for your interview by coming up with questions that relate to the topics of gender, work, parenting and the family.
Your paper should include an introduction paragraph and all pertinent demographic information in California, US about your interviewee and his/her family. The introduction should include a thesis statement, which tells the reader what your paper will be about. Your body paragraphs should be structured around the topics discussed in your interview. Do not simply copy and paste your interview, but summarize your findings, as they relate to the course material/readings/videos. Make sure you directly apply the specific terms/concepts, research/study data/findings, and social theories (at least two theories) directly to your interviewee’s experiences (application).
Your paper should end with a conclusion paragraph that wraps up the topics and brings the paper to a close. You must include at least 15 accurately applied terms/theories in your paper. Underline and provide citations for all terms used from text, lecture notes, readings, or videos. Points will be deducted for leaving out terms/theories that were discussed but not applied sociologically.
Paper should be 4 pages, double-spaced, and written as a college-level essay. Be sure to include a citation page at the end, which should be part of your paper. Do not save your citations as a separate paper.
The goal of this paper is to demonstrate your understanding of the material and apply the terms accurately by providing relevant examples.
Points will be deducted for:
Too long/rambling/unorganized thoughts – Incomplete responses
Excessive grammar/spelling errors (use spell check feature on BB)
Sentences sound like text/email messages, did not use college-level
sentence structure
Sources for outside information are not cited
