Personal Skills Inventory Essay
In embarking on my course, I will need to perfect on various skills, which will also be carried in the career I will embark upon. Among these skills is efficient communication, perfection of academic integrity skills, social networking and time management, all which are vital for a competent member of the society who can serve the community with great levels of competence. Through dedication and persistence, all the skills I aim at gaining throughout this courses will be achievable. Additionally, personal assistance will be a key in driving me into the intended attainment of excellent skills, which will translate in a well equipped individual, ready and with the ability to tackle any kind of difficulty related with what I will learn.
Communication skills are vital in delivering messages and relating with people in all aspects of living. I aim at improving my communication skills through practice. This will be achievable through the use of formal language where applicable and always consulting with reliable resources whenever doubt arises. I will also enhance my communication skills by working on my written grammar. Convincing strategies are important in improving one’s abilities to communicate with confidence and for this; I will work for the best use of rhetoric. In my upcoming course, Accounting Intermediate III, I will always have to ensure that the words used to communicate are the most appropriate in relation to the course in context. My lecturer will be of fundamental assistance in the best business terms to use.
Writing and APA skills will require me to continually engage in practice on the preset requirements to meet the APA conditions. Frequent practice will ensure I gain mastery on the requirement of the APA’s latest editions. Following this, I will have gain the skill in formatting, which with time will improve the speed with which I format my work, saving on the time I use to meet deadlines. Writing skills will also be resultant of good verbal communication, thus I will always have to perfect my verbal skills. Improving writing skills will go further than merely understanding the basics. Excellence will be sought by engaging in practices that will facilitate understanding sentence structures, avoiding such problems as fragmentation. Assistance will be sought from classmates, with whom engagement of practice will be necessary for continuous improvement.
Academic integrity skills will require full concentration to achieve the best required within the course. Academic integrity skills are vital in the academic achievement and later on, full application in real life and in future careers. Achieving this will be possible by being fully attentive on academic issues, including the maintenance of good scores throughout the academic period. My professor will be essential in helping me to fully achieve this. I will utilize all resources available to improve my skills; including scholarly journals, course books and the internet facility, whenever extensive research is necessary.
Social networking skills are necessary to ensure that close relationship with people with whom I relate in all matters is maintained. Owning excellent social networking skills will require me to social persons of all genders, ages and races. I will place importance upon friendly relations with all people I come across, and translate the same towards people I interact with on social networks. This will help me to understand and appreciate every individual’s diversity in tastes and interests. I plan on perfecting my social networking skills through close interactions with my Facebook and Twitter friends.
Time management skills are appropriate in every way one relates with personal and societal needs. It is practically impossible for one to meet deadlines without time management. Similarly, it is not easy to achieve objectives and goals without managing time in the best way possible. Therefore, time management will be a key factor of consideration when putting into context achievement of career objectives. I will achieve time management by preplanning for every task I need to tackle. My course, which needs proper time dedication, will take the greatest part of my time. The remaining time will be evenly divided for me to be able to achieve all tasks I have to engage in, in my daily tasks. My friends will have to know about my strategy on time management, as they are always keen on what I do. They will therefore be a source of help in helping me work to achieve proper time management.
Library skills are vital in helping me to achieve good academic skills. Research forms the key factor with library skills in context. I will therefore have to utilize every available unused study time in embarking on research. Appropriate research will be done through browsing from all available academic resources, with related information on the topic in context. This will also diversify my knowledge on general matters in the related subject. I will have to involve fellow students in carrying out research, consequently improving library skills.
Improving technology skills will be achievable through placing importance upon the functioning systems of modern technologically advanced devices. Great importance will be given on the operation of the computer systems, which are applicable in all life practices today. Accounting Intermediate III will be more achievable with the use of computer systems to solve particular large-scale arithmetic problems. I will need to consult with fellow students, who will be of help in improving my technology skills.
