Personalized Dietary Reference Intakes
This entails of a set of guidelines for the daily intakes of nutrients including vitamins, proteins and fats and other food components such as fiber. The daily allowances are included to allow adequate daily intakes of the values of the nutrients recommended to be taken on a daily basis, and tolerable in the upper level values of the daily intake. The DRIs is made up of four types of nutrient reference values each containing different uses, they include,
Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) – this is the amount of a nutrient estimated to qualify to an estimate of half of all the healthy individuals based on a certain age and gender group. This value specializes on the review of the scientific literature of nutrition.
Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) – this is the average dietary intake of a nutrient sufficient to meets the requirement of nearly all the health individuals. It is a calculated using the EAR.
Adequate Intake (AI) – This develops when the Ear and the RDA fail to be identified because the data provided is not clear and the nutrient has neither a RDA or an AI. The AI is based on the experimental data or through the identification of the amount of nutrients eaten by a group of healthy individuals who assume that the amount they consume is enough to promote their health.
Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) – this is the highest continuing daily intake of the nutrients that are likely to have no risks of severe health effects for all the individuals. As the level of intake increases above the UL, the menace of unpleasant possessions increases.
Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range (AMDR) – this is the actual percentage range of proteins, fat, and carbohydrates intakes. It is associated to minimized risks of the chronic diseases while also providing essential nutrients.
