Provide an Installation Guide on How to Set Up the Windows Server 2008 System and the

Network,

The installation of the Windows Server 2008 system follows the following procedure (Palmer, 2011)

  • Inserting of appropriate Windows Server 2008 installation media in the DVD drive
  • Rebooting of the computer system
  • Making the selection of the installation language and regional options then pressing OK
  • Click the button ‘install now’ to initiate the installation process
  • Entering of the Product ID in the following window
  • Following the completion of the installation of the windows, user can activate through clicking Next
  • In case of no product key or ID, press next, for the provision of the identity after the completion of the installation
  • Without providing the key or identity, the user will have to select the correct version of the Windows Server 2008 to install
  • Provision of the key will offer the right version of the windows thus progress by clicking Next
  • The user should read and accept the terms and conditions of the version being installed
  • Select the type of installation
  • Selection of the portion of the system for the installation of the windows server
  • Then install
  • After the rebooting of the system, the user should press CTRL + ALT + DEL to login to the windows server 2008 login screen
  • The next step should focus on the initiation of authenticity such as changing of password

Descriptions of the Settings for the following:
Server Roles

Server role refers to the set of Lync server functionalities under the provision by the server. In the setting of the server roles, it is advisable for the organization not to set all available components within the networking system. The organization should just focus on the installation of the server roles with the desired functionalities (Harrington, 2005).
Naming Conventions

These refer to the set of rules guiding the programmers in the adoption of character sequence applicable in the identification processes denoting the functions, types, and variables. This is essential programming concept in the documentation or source codes thus should follow the beliefs, value, and ideologies of the organization.
Disk Format (NTFS or FAT)

The setting of the disk format should consider the size of the files thus enhancing the performance of the computer and networking systems. It is advisable for the organization to set disk formats at NTFS for the files greater than 4 GB, otherwise, application of FAT is effective for files below the stated size of the files (Harrington, 2005).
Security

Security is an important concept in the information technology systems. This is because of the need to enhance privacy, autonomy, and credibility of the information within the networking and computer systems. The organization should consider several security systems such as the education/training, perimeter security, physical security, and networking security to enhance the validity of the information (Harrington, 2005).
Centralized Versus Decentralized Administration

Centralized administration is a reflection in which the organization has a specific unit for handling or managing the information systems for the purposes of the business entity. This indicates that the single unit is responsible for the acquisition, development, and maintenance of the hardware and software in addition to the adoption and implementation of the IT policies for the whole organization. Decentralized administration is a management form in which unit within the networking system is responsible for its information technology systems within the organization. This is a reflection of the existence of numerous forms or access points within the networking system unlike centralized administration focusing on one access route (Palmer, 2011).
A Discussion of TCP/IP Configuration

This refers to the acronym for Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). It refers to standardized protocols focusing on enhancing communication between unique computer systems and networking aspects. These protocols operate on the concept of elements that must undergo editing of the appropriate files. This editing is also possible through the deployment of the DHCP server (Harrington, 2005).
A Comparison of Settings between Workgroup and Domain

In the setting of the workgroup, it is essential to have personal computers running Windows for Workgroups (WFW), Windows NT Workstation, and Windows 95. The setting of the domain requires the application of one computer system running the Windows NT server (Palmer, 2011).
An Explanation of Typical Installation Problems/Difficulties Related to the following:
Hardware

Majority of the hardware problems are experienced in the process of attempting to reboot the system. One of the common examples of the hardware problems is the failure in which the disk drives cannot come up with relevant speed prior to the powering of the system. Another problem is the essence of backplane jumper aspect of configuration.
Software

One of the problems in the software installation relates to the abortion of the installation script. Another problem relates to the concept and aspects of the kernel file thus interfering with the installation process (Panek, 2010).

The Network

One of the problems in relation to the network system is the external intrusion affecting the confidentiality, availability, and credibility of the information. Another problem occurs in the overloading of the network systems through numerous workers. Other problems relates to the failure of the central access point to remit the information to different receivers (Palmer, 2011).
