These comments should expand upon, elaborate, clarify or constructively critique your classmates’ conceptual applications. As you go through the process of reading your classmates’ numbered essays, you will encounter other students’ comments about these essays. You should read these comments along with the essays they are responding to and take them into account when you are formulating your own responses. As threads of conversation are built up, add your comments to some of these threads. Whatever comment you make should be a unique contribution to the dialogue that develops around a particular conceptual application essay. You should not duplicate what another student has to say.
In writing your follow-up comments, you may find that a particular conceptual application essay is a good jumping off point for discussing what the film as a whole is trying to communicate to its audience. You should feel free, therefore, to write broadly about the central meaning (or meanings) of the film. What is the film trying to say, and how is it saying it? What kinds of meanings is it explicitly or implicitly expressing?
Each follow-up comment should be a minimum of 150 words.
