Proposal for Change- Final paper
Formal Draft This is not a rough draft All of your research should be done by this point and you should concentrate on writing the paper. The formal draft means that you have all the elements of the paper completed (introduction, body, conclusion, bibliography).
Final Draft (8 pages minimum)-No late papers will be accepted and the paper must be submitted to Safe Assign.
The Proposal for Change paper asks you to develop a plan of action regarding a specific health issue in your respective country. Through the demographic paper and the data sheets you have developed a good understanding of the issues in the country. The gap analyses have given you a good understanding of specific problems in the country. By taking an interdisciplinary view, you can now analyze problems but know that there are political or social or economic issues that might help or hinder the development of solutions. You do not need to solve all of the country s health issues. It is more rewarding to focus on one issue. After you have chosen the health issue, develop a plan to address that concern.
In general the paper should be organized with an introduction which gives the reader an understanding of the country and its problems. Then you will describe the specific issue and develop strategies to solve that issue. Use your analytical and creative skills. Propose a solution or set of solutions to remedy the problem and argue why and how this should be done. This is the main part of the paper. You should think about NGOs, INGOs, government groups, or other entities that could be involved in order to solve the problem, why their involvement is vital to a successful solution, and specifically how these groups will be useful.
Use and cite research (e.g., direct quotations, testimonials, data, studies, background information, summaries, paraphrases) throughout the paper to support each of the points you make. Anticipate possible pitfalls that could arise along the way during the implementation of the solution that could threaten a successful resolution to the problem and then address how each pitfall could be overcome.
Below are some technical writing requirements–
Length: 8 pages minimum (text); also include a title page and bibliography page(s). Appendices are optional. Please use 12-point Tahoma.
Organizational format: This is an argumentative research paper, not a report. Your paper will have a thesis statement (i.e., a point of view on an unresolved issue.)
Documentation format: Either MLA or APA.
Number of sources: There is no set minimum, but with successful papers of this length, 10-12 sources are customary, with an average of 2-3 citations per page. Use scholarly sources.
Writing the paper: The organization of the paper will follow the various steps mentioned above. State your thesis (i.e., the need solve the problem you have identified in the ways you have proposed) very early in the paper and refer to it often throughout the paper. Pay close attention to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Your audience: Your audience for this paper is not a professional organization, business, foundation, or government agency. Your audience is a general audience of college educated people, exactly like your well-informed and globally-interested classmates in this Core III course.
