Putting It All Together
a) what do you now see as your role in supporting reading/literacy in the classroom?
The main role that I have supported in the literacy of the classroom is the fact that I shared the books with the other classmate to enhance their ability to read fluently and understand the various literature books. This is very vital since reading and writing prepares the students for their future careers. Another role that I have used to support the student in the literature classroom is by informing the students on the various forms in which they can be able to read, acquire that knowledge especially from new books. In the past assignments, I have also discussed with fellow students on various strategy and learning skills which all of us as students can be able to read and acquire the basic information in a much simpler way. This is by analyzing each topic in a logical manner listing down every crucial aspect that is observed in the books.
b) What will you commit to doing in your classroom?
There are various commitments that I can decide to undertake to make sure that the entire classroom is also able to read and write with ease. The first commitment that I might take into consideration is to make sure that all the students have access to a reading book and writing equipment such as a pen. This can be possible by the support from the school administration and teachers staff members. By ensuring that all the students have the appropriate reading and writing material will enable the students to be able to read fluently on their own without supervision.
c) What were the great lesson ideas you put together or learned from others?
The greatest lesson I learned from others classmates was how to pronounce the various words and the spelling of various words that I had problems with at past. Another aspect that I learned from my fellow classmates is how to pronounce new words that were obtained from the books by the help of my friends. While we were reading the various books together, my fellow friends introduced the vocabulary they obtained from the books. The meanings of the vocabularies were checked in the dictionary to make sure we used them in a proper manner.
d) What would you like to learn more about in the future?
The most aspect that I would like to learn more about in the future from my fellow classmate is the various new words. This is possible since as class members we share the various new words that we obtain in the books while reading. Another aspect that I would like to learn in the future is the skill of being able to read fast, fluently and understand information from books.
Recommendations
I strongly recommend that for students to be able to read and write fluently they need to participate in class discussions and involve themselves in thorough reading of various different books. This is very vital for the students since the entire human life involves reading and frequent writing and reading in the daily activities. I also recommend that the teacher should take priority in assisting of the students in the classroom assignments. This makes the students more aggressive and knowledgeable because the teachers are well versed with adequate information which is essential for the success of students.
