Week 6 Digital identity integrity
Questions to think about as you read:
- In what ways do digital infrastructures (databases and associated identification techniques) transform processes of ‘social sorting’; that is, placing people into predefined categories?
- Reflect on your own experience of presenting identification in the course of everyday life, or on particular occasions like crossing national borders. Do these practices make you feel more or less secure as a citizen?
- Think about the distinctive method adopted by the authors of the paper—in what ways might these interventions be particularly appropriate to studies of digital identity infrastructures. What other infrastructures might be addressed with serious play?
