relationship between animal and human in Carp of my Dreams.

Japanese story of supernatural
Advice for writing the paper:

Make sure your paper has an argument and is not just descriptive.    simplify the stories for the sake of producing a simple argument. Aim for a complex argument that is expressed simply. A good paper will be one that shows you have read carefully and deeply, have thought about the text beyond what was discussed in class, and have come up with an interesting argument about it that is not immediately obvious.

What I am looking for is an interesting and thoughtful analysis of the stories. There is no list of “right answers” that I will be expecting. There are, however, papers that are more interesting/thoughtful than others. Just describing what you read and pointing out the obvious is not enough. In many cases, posing an interesting question—even if it turns out to be difficult to answer—can be more effective and worthwhile than listing easy answers to obvious questions. The paper should show evidence of thoughtful questioning that goes beyond what we have talked about in class.

****please do not summarize the story (professor already knew the story), he wants us to develop our own ideas in a more consistent manner, and we should have a more thesis statements to specify what our paper examines. must read the text very carefully and deeply.
and you can talk about what the relationship between monks and animals and ordinary human and animals, because monks don’t eat meat but ordinary human do. what do you think about why monks(or Buddhists) don’t eat meat, because of kill animals will go to hell after we die?
another point is whats the supernatural part you think in this story, why? how is this relate to Japanese society?
besides these, you can have more your own ideas.
Aim for a complex argument that is expressed simply and give some strong thesis statements, ideas focus on the relationship between animal and human.
