The book by Adam Drewnowki aims to compare the prices to energy ratios of healthy food to the ones acquired in fast food restaurants. The article states that fast foods is quite affordable in comparison to the amount of energy one acquires when compared to healthier foods, which makes it possible for consumers who are not well off to become obese. It goes on to state that the varied ways that can be used to reduce the cost of healthy foods.
- Jeffery et. al. 2006. “Are Fast Food Restaurants an Environmental Risk Factor for Obesity?” The International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity 3(25).
The article makes a brief focus on the outcome of a study that is keen on experimenting the relation between obesity and vicinity to fast food. The article discusses the lack of connection between closeness of fast food and obesity. The article adds value to the argument that obesity is an adverse issue that is fast rising due to the lack of responsibility. This leads to a number of unhealthy cases in consumers that make them acquire varied traits.
- Talukdar, D. and Lindsey, C. (2013). To Buy or Not to Buy: Consumers’ Demand Response Patterns for Healthy Versus Unhealthy Food. Journal of Marketing, 77(2), p124-138.
The article creates an argument that is based on economic theories of consumer demands so as to predict the impact on market price of the variation of client food intake trend. The article argues that clients portray an undesirable trend of sensitivity to price variation for healthy and unhealthy foods. For healthy foods, demand sensitivity is high for price while unhealthy foods is the reverse. Additionally, that article agrees that the undesirable trends are increased due to policies put in place. The article offers a good ground for support of my argument.
