research project you need to choose a media ‘text’ so that means a series of Facebook posts, Facebook profile pages or a more conventional media text such as a newspaper article, a radio broadcast, a television program, or a music video. Facebook is not a ‘text’, it is a social media platform. Did you receive the handouts I gave in class which guide you through some methods (eg. content analysis and framing) and theories (eg. agenda setting) for your final project? I have re-attached them here.
As well as settling on a media text you will also need to devise your own research question and choose a theory and a method from the MMP Subject Outline. If you’re interested in analysing an aspect of Facebook then perhaps you might think about conducting a content analysis of some Facebook posts or profile pages and then using the work of one of the theorists in the lecture topic ‘Identity, Self and Media’ (eg. Giddens, Livingstone and Dobson) to explore the significance of your media text. PLZ write about facebook
