Thesis statement
In the social relationship witnessed in today’s world, it is obvious that every person struggles to instill some behaviors that are not present in their environment; which are as the result of their imaginations. They use old adaptations that they think feel will work in the new environment as compared to the existing adaptation. Sociological structure and power are some of the adaptations that are incorporated in the new environment.
Argument
Power, Behavior and Success
The welfare of an individual in the society generally lays on the way they relate to others in the modern society (Fox 65). Everyone in the society sees it as a necessity to improve his or her welfare in the society therefore bringing the issue of the nature of power. Through power, they may want to succeed in getting people in their environment and manipulate them to act towards their interest. Making this successful in the modern society is something unique and therefore one has to use power and exhibit a behavior, which can eventually see him achieve success in the new environment. This article therefore discusses how the power, behavior and success affect the different adaptation exhibited by man in the new society to explain the thesis; as Robin Fox discusses in his book.
For the people in the society to have success, the social relationship is inevitable. They will have to incorporate some of the old adaptation, regarding the sociological life, so that they live a harmonized life. The incorporation of the sociological adaptations, focus on integrating the people of the society and eliminating the personal differences even though they are not designed for the environment. The power used in achieving a favorable relationship mainly bases on how many people value what you offer to them, the number of people using the same adaptation and to what extent do you want your effect on the society. The old adaptation is revealed in the way the modern people are trying to incorporate power in their everyday activities
Game script provides a better field for interaction in the life of man. An individual in the society therefore makes use of power adaptation in order to gain favor in this field. Every individual in the society desires to know what type of script is rewarding, what costs they may be and what they may have to do to win the benefits. This has been the trend in the society of schooling. Dating and sports as everyone wants to compare to their power to their counterparts. The adaptation applied on the game script makes the society to realize where one may not be having enough power and ways of adjusting (Fox 61). Power on game script has therefore made the new society to focus on encouraging good relationship even though individuals may be having different potentiality.
`Bargaining power is also another field where power is applied in the new society. Bargaining power mainly revolves manipulating chances of getting what you want in good terms and at low cost; which is one of the principles applied in power. The bargaining power is a way of harmonizing the customer’s power and the buyer’s power. Even though people are trying to use their power in bargaining, there are respects where the power adaptation may not apply. For instance, the desperate need for compliance may make one to lose the bargaining power, despite using more power for the compliance. The buyer may also not be in need of the car and have not enough money for buying the car and therefore the power will not possibly fit as expected. The society also uses power to determine to what extent a person may be mattering to other people in the society. This has taken the better part of the society until one who is powerless is taken as poor and frustrated. However, this may not apply to the modern society, as different people may have different ways of expressing their status in the society. Some prefer not to use power even though they may be rich while other sees power as the main phenomenon for doing the same.
Social Structures of Life
Life is something that is very difficult to understand and that is the reason as to why many people are trying to come up with new ideas of which they think may be good or match something that is already in existence. Sociology is one of the vital aspects of life that has played a major role in enhancing interaction among members of various races and ethnicities. The interaction of human species has lead to introduction of certain concepts in life that are believed to be beneficial but not yet proven. Many sociologists have carried out research and found out that people do not use the new but old ideas in driving their social lives. There are certain adaptations that the human race is trying to force into the new environment though they tend to bring many difficulties due to the high technological advancement that has changed the form of every human activity. There are certain activities that were carried outs out in the ancient world though they cannot fit into the present world due to the advancements made by certain experts or researchers.
In the ancient world, interaction was not that effective as people lacked ideas of how to push on with their sociological lives. There were issues of tribal and racial differences that led to formation of groupings of classes in which people were ranked. Members of a particular group or class were expected to dwell within their class boundaries but not to intrude others. This made every community or tribe to have their own cultures and traditions that governed their social lives. In the traditions, there were rules and believed that every member had to believe in order to be considered a full member of the tribe or community. These were some of the ways in which social lives were being driven in the past.
One of the examples how humans try to make old adaptations into the new environment can be seen through the recent interactions and how people perceive and respond to certain changes in life. The manner in which people adapt to certain changes is much more similar to those of the old periods. The ancient or old adaptations cannot actually fit into the new environment as every generation is subjected to some sort of modifications or adjustments in relation to adaptability. Some of the ancient activities or adaptations tend to interfere with the already made adjustments causing conflicts between different subjects (Mortimer, 220). An example of an adaptation that belonged to the ancient but is being brought to the modern or new environment is the carrying out of practices that belonged to a particular community just because people think they are ideal and can supplement or boost the sociological status of the people. Not to forget is the polygamy. The issue of marrying more than one wife has today become the order of the day as the ration of women to men is a bit higher. The statistics carried out over the last five years shows that one man can get married to at least five women or wives. This kind of marriage was only practiced in the past but has today found room in the modern world.
Generally, sociological aspects or a structure of live have no channel to follow but this only depends on how one approaches certain challenges in life and how he or she interacts them. The relations between people of different ethnicities or races also determine how people interact and perceive certain changes in life. Adaptations plays a major role in human life and without it, human cannot fit comfortably into their habitat. Adaptation, is the process by which a person or organism becomes familiar or familiarize changes within its newly found habitat. Some of the changes may be very harmful if adaptability mechanisms are not employed well. From all the changes that human go through and how they at times respond to them, it is evidently clear that they are trying to bring the old adaptations into the new environment. The sociological structures have changed and this according to many sociologists or experts is some kind of degeneration. Degeneration is not only interfering with all that had been researched and modified but also tend to make life much more difficult. In conclusion, it is true that the old adaptations are brought into the new environment where they were not designed to be.
Conclusion
Power adaptation, as Robin Fox asserts, is one of the tribal imagination that the society may want to instill into their every day working activity even though it may not be applying. In spite of the power having various dimension in the life of man, the way it is applied as sociological concept, it is obvious that it was not designed for the new environment. For instance, the way power was used to resolve disputes in the old environment cannot easily fit in the new environment because of the ruling mode (Fox 61). With the change in the sociological structures of life, life cannot be comfortable, as many damages will be caused in future making human life miserable and full of agonies. This is according to Robin who is one of the sociologists.
