Final Paper Instructions:

This essay assignment will have four sections.

Part One: Select a piece of art, literature, philosophy or architecture from Ancient Greece, Rome, or the 20th Century. Describe the work and include the creator, the means by which it was created and disseminated (book, painting, oral tradition) and physical characteristics if relevant. Also write about the historical and cultural influences surrounding the creation of the work. This section should be 500 words minimum.

Part Two: Select two of the following characteristics

Strategy

In the second section of this assignment you will explain how the item you have selected exemplified two of these characteristics during the time period in which it was created. For example, aqueducts in Rome were both innovative and strategic. Then provide examples as to why. This section will also be about 500 words minimum.

Part Three: Why has your selection stood the test of time? What can it teach us today? Why is your selection a classic? This section should be 300-500 words minimum.

Part Four: Works cited section. You must use 5 excellent college level resources for this assignment. Documentaries are also allowed as resources, as are podcasts. You will put citations in the body of the paper and will cite according to APA, MLA or Chicago style. Do not use encyclopedias , commercial or children’s sites for this project.

Feel free when formatting to separate the essay into section for organization, but submit the assignment as a single Word document in the assignment space.
