The focus of the research paper will be to investigate how a large transnational corporation (TNC) has globalized. You will have to find out when, where, why, and how it has globalized. The overarching goal is to enable you to conduct and write up a significant piece of independent research. The aim is also to help you see how you can integrate insights from lectures, already-existing academic writing, and your own primary research on a large corporation in which you are personally interested.
The final research report will count for 20% of the overall grade for the course. Good research reports draw on the material covered in the course, academic research, and company reports and other primary sources of information. They also place the globalization of the TNC that is the subject of the research within the context of wider trends of which that particular business is a part. Good reports clearly document the sources of information contained in the report using the APA reference system. Finally, good research papers are well organized and of appropriate length; are written in clear English that is generally free of errors; and demonstrate an understanding of the conventions of academic writing. Final research reports should be about 2000 words, double-spaced in a 12 point font.
