An Informative Essay (Exploratory Synthesis) is a piece of writing that is designed to help readers understand a topic. What differentiates informative writing from persuasive writing is that informative writing is objective. You are not trying to convince your readers to take a specific stance about a topic. For this essay, you will be writing an Informative Essay about the topic of your choice.

Begin your Informative Essay with an introduction that grabs your reader s attention and prepares them to read your essay. You should then lead into the body of your essay with a thesis that focuses the facts that you will include in your paper. The rest of your paper should increase our knowledge of the topic at hand and enlarge our understanding of your thesis. Throughout the essay, you should include information from at least three outside sources. Cite all outside information in APA style.

The Guidelines for Writing Syntheses appear on pp. 93-95 of your textbook. You must use at least three outside sources for this paper. Graphics, tables, and charts are permissible, but will not be included in your page count. (Be sure that you have at least 4 pages worth of text.)

The Text Book is “A Sequence for Academic Writing” 4th Edition by
Laurence Behrens and Leonard J. Rosen. I can type out the steps for you so if you don’t find the reference anywhere.
1. Consider your purpose in writing.

so I believe these are just steps on how to write the paper, not something I will need for the final draft. Also I am
not sure if the subject of the paper shold be The History of Special Olympics.
