Specific Guidelines for Public Policy Paper
1. It has to be 4-6 double-spaced pages. A cover page must be done, which does not count as a page. There is not to be any header info on any page except the cover page; your name is header info. The body of the paper begins at less than 1” on the first page, which isn’t numbered. The rest of the pages (except the Bib) should be numbered in the footer. For the body pages, no print should be more than 0.9” from the edge of the paper except for terminating sentences at the end of paragraphs and for indentations. Top and left margins are recommended at 0.8” initially, bottom and right margins are recommended at 0.4”, but you may need to adjust to meet the criteria. It doesn’t matter what your computer says the margins are set at; what matters is where they actually print.
2. The paper must include a minimum of five citations, all of which must be from at least five different sources. A Bibliography is required w/ standard resource info; endnotes and footnotes are not allowed. Online databases, books online, legitimate websites, and hardcopy sources can be used. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, Wikipedia, Wikileaks, blogs, documentaries, video or audio media, resources from the course and interviewees are not to be used. For the required number of cites to count, students will attach copies of the resources with the cited passages hi-lited. The hardcopy sources will need to be photocopied, and web pages will need to be printed out. Identify on each of the attachments on which pages of the Public Policy Paper the hi-lited passages can be found. Only include the pages that have citations.
3. The paper should have correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar (mechanics).
4. The writer can pick either one of the theme on writing the paper.
