Dear writer,
This is an admission essay to enter summer school at Stanford. The essay question is: How will participating in Stanford Summer Session advance your future career, academic, or personal goals? 500 words
Currently studying Business Studies and Geography at a top UK university.
Originally from Saudi Arabia. Been studying in the UK for the past 10 years.
I’m entrepreneur – founder of FlatAdvisor.com – an online platform that facilitates the sharing of honest, reliable information and reviews of properties in Edinburgh. It provides accurate reviews posted by current tenants for prospective tenants, thus offering information and limiting uncertainty and risk from letting a property based on that one brief viewing we’ve all experienced. There’s nothing like it on the market and believe it will revolutionise. Taking part in Stanford summer session will give me tools, motivation inspiration to develop this into market leader.
Vice President and Treasurer of Middle Easy Society in my University.
I’m an ambassador of the NamPhuong Foundation – I met NamPhuong on a visit to my friend at Oxford University where she studies. We exchanged ideas and visions that we would like to see our countries in, hers being Vietnam and mine Saudi. She quickly offered a place and I was delighted to be a part of it.
I also have a passion for learning. As well as engaging in university, I’ve enrolled myself in 2 online courses from universities around the UK this semester – Big Data: measuring and predicting human behaviour, University of Warwick, and The Discovery of the Higgs Boson, University of Edinburgh. Over the summer I’ll be reading The Holocaust: An Introduction, Tel Aviv University, and Global food security: Addressing the Challenge, Lancaster University. I’ve done these courses through FutureLearn.com – online course learning platform. I always had a passion for learning and summer session is perfect for me.
Participating in the summer session – i want to grow academically and personally. I want to be immersed in learning environment that encourages innovation creativity and fosters entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve studied in UK for past 10 years and want a global perspective. I’m a dreamer and thinking of new ways of doing things. Having grew up in Saudi Arabia, the determination to change for the better is immense and the country has so much potential – opportunity. The ultimate long term personal ambition of mine is to have a positive influence on the way Saudi is developing economically. I have strong feelings towards the announcement of Kingdom Tower – to-be the worlds tallest tower in Jeddah. Is it a viable investment that will inspire economic and social development, fostering the recent real estate boom? Or an attention seeking white elephant that is misplaced resources instead of focusing on more pressing issues such as the massive inequality gap? I’ll be addressing this question for my 15,000 word dissertation next year. I believe the new perspective gained from my experience at Stanford this summer will inspire me to pursue this academic and personal goal. I owe this curiosity having been brought up with a different perspective (education in Britain) that has led me to question everything. I’m not afraid to break tradition.
