This report is your opportunity to present an emerging / new technology to your boss.
A list of video clips, articles and announcements will be provided on myCourses before the start of class session #1. Review the technology links to stories about various new technologies. Select ONE technology and write a 1-2 page Technology Assessment report about that technology. You must include at least ONE outside reference about this technology, clearly cited.
Your goal for this Technology Assessment Report is the following:
to explain WHAT it is
to explain HOW it might affect "the business" (or society at large)
to ASSESS any risks, challenges, or opportunities that it creates
to make a RECOMMENDATION related to the technology
In your report, it is most important to give YOUR opinion of the technology impact, YOUR assessment of the risk/return, and YOUR overall recommendation for how it might be adopted.
The Technology Assessment Report will be graded with standards outlined in a rubric on MyCourses that includes four levels of achievement: Accomplished, Proficient, Partially Proficient, and Novice. The criteria for grading the reports are:
Technology Description and Analysis (80%), divided into the following categories:
Understanding of the technology (20%)
Success in imagining and explaining how the technology might affect a business (20%)
Ability to consider the risks and returns that might occur with this technology, (20%)
Ability to make a clear recommendation (for or against its adoption) (20%)
Report format (Introduction, Key Points, Conclusion/Recommendations) (10%)
Grammar & Vocabulary (10%)
