Identify one federal government regulatory program. (RegInfo.gov is a good research source). Prepare a brief of the origins of the program. Then find the House of Representatives subcommittee with oversight responsibility for that program and describe that committee’s oversight agenda in the current Congress. Finally, go to Expectmore.gov and look up the most recent assessment of the effectiveness of the program produced by the Office of Management and Budget under the Program Assessment Rating Tool process. Provide a summary of your findings. (3-5 pages not including cover or reference page)

Go to https://RegInfo.gov to identify one federal government regulatory program. Click on the Unified Agenda and click on the Current Unified Agenda Regulatory Plan. Scroll to the bottom of the page. There, you will find a drop own menu for agency selection. For my example, Peace Corps was selected. (You cannot select the same one for your assignment.) You can click on the Regulation Identifier Number (RIN) to learn about the program. Additionally, you can do a web search to learn more.

Go to www.house.gov to look for the committee and subcommittee
At Expectmore.gov, go to ‘Show Me the Programs by Agency,” and find the agency/program on the pull-down menu. Click on Program Name, and you will find the Program Assessment.
Please note that a very broad regulatory program is being used. This exercise is designed to expose you to the regulatory process, oversight, and research. You are not required to find a small, obscure program, unless you choose to do so. You can do a very broad program and not feel too overwhelmed.
