Course Project
The project is the most formal writing assignment for the course. Although your choice of topic must be approved by the instructor, the project provides an opportunity for you to explore an aspect of Russia and revolution that holds particular interest for you. Writing
is guided through various stages. A minimum of 4 major sources (authoritative books or long, scholarly articles) approved by your instructor are required.
Goals: The project is designed to:
1.) encourage you to deepen your knowledge about a subject area relevant to the course
2.) help you develop your skills in critical thinking and in writing a formal paper based on limited research but careful analysis.
Details: 10-12 pages (not including bibliography and endnotes), typed, double-spaced, 12-pitch, 1” margins; use endnotes rather than footnotes; bibliography and endnotes in MLA or instructor-approved style. Projects must incorporate at least four authoritative books or substantive scholarly articles approved by your instructor.
