SB 1070 and Its Effects on the State of Arizona
The purpose of my letter is to persuade the intended audience that SB 1070 has brought to the state of Arizona more problems than benefits, and there are solutions that can reduce the illegal immigrants and prevent discrimination in the state. The primary audience for my letteris Steve Farley, a state senator from Arizona and member of the Democratic Party, and other potential audiences are the resident of Arizona, who oppose the law. Steve aspires to move Arizona forward by enhancing the economy, finding solutions for senior issues, and focusing on public safety. Those values seem to haveconflict with the results of the law SB 1070, so hopefully by writing to Farley, he may consider SB 1070 as senior issues that need to be solved. SB 1070 causes series of incidents that affect negatively on the state. For example, impact on the economyand judging people based on their appearancesare some of these incidents. During my research, I found several articles that support these claims and provide strong evidences. Farley is opposing the law, and he says that “Arizonans expect and deserve reasonable immigration reform. SB 1070 is a far cry from reasonable.” His position from the law makes me even more excited to write to him. I believe that Farley has pretty much information about this law. I read some of his opinions, andhe has been in debates with other Politicians. This gives me an impression that Farley is the right person to write to. My letter will contain evidences from my research to supports my points, and it may encourage Farley to take an action to change the law.
